Kate Spade Office Decor

Along with re-decorating my own apartment, my office at work is also in the middle of being renovated. I'm talking new paint, new carpet and maybe even some new furniture here and there. While I’m displaced from my normal work area, I’ve started thinking about ways to make my office space a little more “me,” when I get back. One quick fix for any bare room is putting something on the walls. Currently, there are two large landscape photos hanging in my office. Though they are beautiful, I prefer something a little more modern and fun. I want an office that reflects my personality as soon as you walk in the door. What better way to do that, than bringing in a little Kate Spade?!
Below are three prints from Subload Traverlers Print Shop on Etsy that I’d love to have! These cute sayings paired with gold frames would be the perfect art for my blank office walls!
They would all be the same size and compliment the three photos of family, friends and Paisley, that I plain on hanging. An end result similar to this photo would be fabulous!

How do you show personality in your office?

Recent Purchase: New Coffee Table Books!

During my two-month absence from blogging, I made (way too) many fun purchases, but yesterday I ordered two new things that I must tell you about!

Remember in February, when I discussed my growing coffee table book obsession? Read that post here! Since then, I've slowly been collecting fun books and working to make my coffee table look absolutely perfect!

Here's a photo that I posted earlier this week on Instagram!
I'm so excited with how it's coming together! Plus, as of this weekend, two more fun additions are on the way!

Kate Spade New York: Things We Love

Cupcakes and Cashmere: A Guide for Defining Your Style, Reinventing Your Space, and Entertaining with Ease

These two were too cute not to order! Do you have a favorite coffee table book?

A Developing Obsession: Coffee Table Books

When I'm home for the weekend, Saturdays are used for shopping.

As should every day, right?

This has become a fun tradition because depending on that particular Saturday, you never know what I'm looking for: a piece of jewelry, the perfect pair of heels, or something that I haven't quite decided yet. You find the best treasures when you're looking for nothing at all.
Today, I'm following suit and looking for something I find absolutely fascinating.

Beautiful coffee table books.

I haven't always been a reader, or even a book person. I started reading for fun when I was a sophomore in college, though coffee table books have never been my fancy…until now.

Lauren Conrad once said "The things you keep on your coffee table say a lot about who you are and where you've been."

As I continue to update my apartment, as part of my goals for 2014, I find myself agreeing more and more with her statement. What better way to show your personality than through books filled with beautiful people, places and fashion? I'm dying to start my own collection!

Hopefully, today on my shopping trip, I'll find something I absolutely love, something that says who I am, where I've been and where I'm going.

Are you a coffee table book kinda gal?

Finally, An Apartment Tour!

I've been living in my new apartment for just over a month, and I absolutely love it! This apartment is in a great location, and is a perfect match for my working, post-college lifestyle! I'm so glad I ended up here!

This weekend, I finally took pictures for my long-awaited apartment tour!

Here they are just for you!
As you approach the front door, you're greeted by my pink and green monogram wreath. This project turned out awesome, and it is so me! With this on the door, there's definitely no mistaking which apartment is mine!
As you make your way inside, you come into my kitchen. Since I collect cupcakes, I decided to give the kitchen a cupcake theme.
This apartment is built to be handicap accessible, making everything in the kitchen a little lower to the ground than it would normally be. With me only being 5'2", this worked out perfectly. I'm actually taller than my refrigerator, which is definitely a first!
The kitchen and the living room area are separated by a bar that you see above. Instead of buying bar stools that I probably wouldn't use, I decided to use that space for the kitchen table that I purchased at an auction a few years ago.
I found my plates, place mats and centerpiece at Target. I think they all bring so much color to the room.
Next is my living room area. Since it's just a one-bedroom apartment, I didn't want to bring in too much furniture, but I did have the perfect amount of space for my couch, new mirrored coffee table and TV stand.
The coffee table was a surprise Christmas gift from my family, and probably one of my favorite things in the apartment. It's another Target purchase that I think was definitely a home run!

I use the newest Southern Weddings Magazine for a little coffee table reading!
The view from the couch!
To the right of the kitchen/living room is my bedroom and full bath.
I came across my duvet cover on the Pottery Barn Kids website earlier this fall, and my pillows are from TJ Maxx and Target!

I also got super lucky with a set of lamps! One of my Mom's friends was downsizing, and graciously gave my a set of acrylic crystal lamps that she didn't plan on using. I use one in the living room and the other on my nightstand.
I love being able to showcase some of the artwork that I've made!
My bathroom is right off from my room, and features a stackable washer/dryer, an open walk-in type closet, and a large amount of counter top space.
These shelves are just begging me to buy more shoes!
For the bathroom, I decided to stick with my black, white, and pink color scheme, along with adding in a little chevron for fun! I picked up this shower curtain at Urban Outfitters. The pink rugs are from Target.
The End!

I hope you love my little apartment just as much as I do! If you ever get the chance to live by yourself, do it! It's amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Craft Tutorial: Monogram Wreath!

About a week ago, I finished up my last apartment project, which happened to be my favorite one so far!

The Monogram Wreath!

Wreaths like these are all over Pinterest and Etsy, so when I found out I was moving into my own apartment, I had to have one!

I ordered a 16-inch monogram from Three Jumping Monkeys on Etsy, and paid just $26.00. It arrived at my house about a month later, nicely packaged and ready to go.

Here it is right out of the box!
Though they offer wooden monogram cutouts that are already finished and painted, I ordered the unfinished version. The unfinished ones are a little less expensive, and gave me the option of painting it any color that I wanted!

Next, I went to Michael's and picked out my paint! I knew I wanted a combination of pink and green, like this inspiration photo that I saw on Pinterest.
I chose more of a fuchsia color, that I knew would should up well on my door. I also picked up a fresh foam brush. Both of these items cost me less than $1.00.

Now, it's time to paint!
Make sure your allot enough time to paint multiple coats on the wood. I decided to paint the front, back, and edges of mine, so that no unfinished wood was showing. One small bottle of acrylic paint from the craft store is more than enough.
The only other supplies you need are a roll of wired ribbon (I bought two, but ended up only needing one roll) and a normal wreath hanger that goes over your door.

During Christmas, I bought my wreath hanger at Walmart for $5.00. They had a couple different kinds, but I picked one out with a metal bow. I got my ribbon at Michael's for 60% off because it was green for Christmas. This worked perfectly for my pink & green wreath!
Once the wreath was painted and the ribbon and hanger were bought, I was off to Michael's to meet with their custom wreath maker.

Keep in mind:
-The person that works on custom wreaths/floral arrangements isn't always there, so it helps to call ahead of time.
-Bring a picture of what you want the end result to look like. The nice lady that did mine had never seen a monogram wreath, so having a picture with me really helped her out.
-Michael's charges for the amount of time it takes them to do it. Mine ended up costing $7.00 for labor.

Ta-Da!
I am beyond happy with the result! The monogram cutout makes my apartment so much more inviting & personalized, of course!
Would you ever use a monogram wreath?

I Bought New Bedding!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

After searching high and low, and posting about my search for the perfect bedding, I woke up yesterday morning re-energized and ready to find what I was looking for!

I am happy to announce that beautiful bedding is in my future! I finally placed my orders (yes, plural) early this morning, and I am so excited for them to arrive!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions on brands and stores! I ended up using three different places for three separate orders: one from Overstock.com, Ebay, and PB Kids!

What I picked out:

The Dahlia Duvet Cover and shams in pink from Pottery Barn Kids!

The duvet is no longer available on the PB Kids website, but I was able to find it on Ebay!

I did manage to scoop up two of the Dahlia pillow shams from the website on sale for $9.99 a piece, and with free shipping!

I got my quatrefoil fix in my black and white sheet set from Overstock.com!
I really love the idea of mixing patterns, hence the lattice print duvet and chevron urn that I've already purchased. These sheets brought just the right amount of black into the bedding!

I can't wait to see everything come together in my new place!

Interior Designer Needed!

Before I begin this post, there are two big changes that have taken place in my life that I must update you on!

1. I got a job!
One week ago, I got a call from a job that I had applied for in late September. I had an interview at the beginning of October that went fabulously, and this was the call that I had been waiting on! I was offered a wonderful full-time position at the university that I graduated from in May, and I cannot wait to be back! Woohoo!

This leads me to my next big change...

2. I'm moving!
I'm picking up my life and moving back to my college town! I have a little less than a month to get back and have everything ready, and I'm stressing! I'm trying my best to find a place to live, but places are few and far between because it's such an odd time to move in. Everyone already has a place to live, a lease in the works and roommates. This has me worrying, and scrambling for the perfect apartment and the perfect decor.

I've made a few big decisions concerning my bedroom decor, which I think has me on the right track!

1. I want my room to be pink, gold, and white, with black accents.

Here are a few bits of Pinspiration:

All images via Pinterest

2. I want quatrefoil bedding in some combination of those colors.
I love this white quatrefoil, but it's only sold in size queen and king, and I have a size full bed! So frustrating!

3. I want to use small pops of other patterns in the room.
Here are a few things I've bought so far!

Thought this isn't quatrefoil, I found this black and white bedding, and I am in love!!!
Seriously, could a bed be any more gorgeous?!
Too bad the comforter alone is nearly $1500! Yes, outrageous!

I just can't seem to find the perfect bedding that I'm looking for! Everything is the wrong color or the wrong size. That's where I would love your help! Have you seen cute quatrefoil bedding anywhere lately? Or another fun pattern that you really liked? I'm open for suggestions!

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

I'm so sorry for my four-day blogging absence!
There has been so much going on with the semester coming to an end and getting ready for that stress-filled exam week!
If you're dealing with exams as well, I hope it isn't too tough this semester! I got lucky and only ended up with one real exam. What a relief! Last semester, I had three on the same day!

But on the bright side, there are only two weeks until Christmas!

If you read my last post, you know that I had semi-formal this weekend, and then yesterday, Jake and I ventured to the Biltmore House. It was so beautiful! Stop by tomorrow to see what we did, bought, etc!

Today, I wanted to talk about living!
I know it sounds a bit random, but with graduation fast approaching (exactly 5 months and 1 day from today) it's been on my mind a lot lately!
You go to college, you graduate, but then what?!
Even if you're not dealing with this now, it's a stage of life that we will all go through, taking a leap of faith, leaving the nest, you get it. I know that getting a job comes first, but I am so excited have a new place to live!
Yes, I'm sure I'll be back at home for a little while until I find something else, but I'm talking about after that.

Though I have no city or apartment in mind, I do have some decorating ideas, via Pinterest of course!

Bedroom:
Love that monogram!

These pillows are amazing!

Office:
Books are my favorite!

Hallway:
I'd love to hear what you think about these too-cute rooms and decorating ideas?! How did you decorate the first place that was all your own?
