What a Delight!

I am beyond excited to announce that tonight I received my first blog award, the Liebster Blog Award, from kBr at Headed Down South to the Land of the Pines. Check out her blog about the life of a Carolina girl!

Thank-you so much for thinking of me, kBr! You made my night!

This award is given to up-and-coming blogs and I am so honored to have received it.

Here's how the award works:
This award is for bloggers with less than 200 followers!
Here are the rules:
1. Show your thanks by linking the blogger who awarded you!
2. Leave links to your top 5 blogs and leave them comments letting them know!
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. Enjoy the love!!

I just started blogging about two months ago and I love it! I found so many blogs that I enjoy reading. With that said, I'd like to pass this award on to:

3. Taylor at MAKE IT COUNT
4. Holly at Lemon and Bubbily

These are all blogs that I've just recently started following and I think definitely deserve this award.
Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

I am so envious of the bloggers I follow, that have time to post every day! I just don't know where they find the time?!

What's been keeping me so busy this weekend?
Here's a little re-cap!

Friday night Alpha Phi had a special ceremony leading up to our initiation on Saturday morning.
On Saturday we had initiation! Such a special day for all my new members!
I only have one more meeting until my job as Pledge Mom is complete, and although I'm excited to be done, I'm going to miss them so much!

After initiation yesterday, we had a football game against Georgia Southern, the #1 ranked team in our division and we WON! Go Appalachian! Too bad this is the one game I decided to miss because I was so exhausted! People even rushed the field, it looked like SO much fun!

Everyone dressed up for Halloween last night after the game. Katy came over to get ready with me and then we decided to go to my friend Anthony's fraternity's Halloween party! We went as a cat & tiger!

Katy painted on some whiskers and was the cutest cat I'd ever seen!

I actually got the inspiration for my costume from Pinterest! Imagine that?

Here's the original:
 Via
I loved the uniqueness and creativity of the paint in the costume!

My friend, Gwyn is amazing in the art department and spent an hour painting me last night! We tried to follow the picture and did my arms, legs and face. (This was much more fun going on, than coming off)

What do you think?

I wanted you to be able to see all the paint here!
But, I ended up wearing a sweater because it was in the low 30's last night! We froze!
I thought it turned out amazing and definitely lived up to every expectation I had! Thanks, Gwyn & Katy for all your help!

My friend, Lindsey even got some inspiration from my costume and made this adorable cookie!
RAWR!!

Craft Update!
For those of you wondering about the craft I was making for my g-littles in my last post...I finally finished it!
-I started out with 4 blank canvases, then hot glued a ribbon on each.
-I panted them an aqua color and hot glued an all-glitter crown on the top
-I don't know how to write in cursive, so my friend, Kristin, came over and wrote on each one so I could paint over it! Thanks girl!
The final look!

Sunday:
My day will be spent relaxing, eating cinnamon roles, watching Lifetime, washing clothes, a trip to the grocery store and waiting for Jake to get back to Boone. I've missed him so much this weekend!

Have a wonderful rest of your Halloween!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Hello all!

Happy Hump Day!

We're that much closer to Friday! Yay!

Here's what I'm loving this Wednesday!

1. I'm loving Halloween: Halloween weekend is only a few short days away and I'm so excited! I love seeing what people decide to dress up as every year. I'm a little obsessive, and start looking for my costume around Easter every year! (SUPER EARLY, I know) I didn't pick out this year's until a week or so ago. It still might change, so I won't say what it is, but I think it will be good:) My friend, Gwyn, has agreed to help me get the look I'm going for...bless her heart!

Here's a recap of my past few Halloween costumes:
Freshman year: Mardi Gras Person
 Sophomore year: Bunny
Junior year: Minnie Mouse
Senior year: I guess you'll have to wait and see!
What are you being for Halloween?

2. I'm loving my latest craft: I am so excited to tell you more about my latest craft project! I haven't had time lately to put into crafting, but 4 NEW G-LITTLES was just the right reason! I wanted to make something for them, so they'll remember me after I graduate. Hopefully this does the trick! I don't want to reveal exactly what it is yet, just in case they're reading!

Here are my supplies:
4 white canvases
ribbon
paint
hot glue gun (these are AMAZING & cheap!)
princess accessories
---
Can't wait to show you the final product!

3. This cute quote: I was just glancing over facebook and I read this quote. I thought it was just too cute!

"Every day needs at least one princess moment"

What was your princess moment today?

4. Glad Dollars: Because I posted a picture of myself in the yellow coat that I bought at Gladiola Girls for Homecoming, I received $10 in Glad Dollars. Now I have an excuse to go back and purchase something else! A few pieces of jewelry caught my eye the other day, so I'm looking forward to going back very soon!

 LOVE that multi-colored strand!

I hope you're having a great Wednesday and finding things that you're in love with too!

Homecoming Weekend Recap

Big/Little
This weekend was so much fun, but I am so glad that it's over with! On Thursday night, I was in charge of putting together Big/Little Revealing. This was more stressful than any other event during the new member period, but it was amazing and everyone had so much fun!

At revealing, the bigs dressed up in costumes and covered themselves in layers upon layers of clothes. They each gave their (soon-to-be) littles corresponding outfits and had them wear it to the actual reveal. Groups of bigs went to the front of the room and danced to music, while taking off their layers one by one. When they reached the bottom layer and the little saw who her costume matched with, they ran up to the front and hugged their big! It's so exciting and suspenseful! Here's a few pictures to help you understand.

My littles, Sharyn & Katy, are the two on the left!

The Princess Family always dresses up in crowns and wings!
Sharyn & Katy had just revealed to my 4 new g-littles!

We love you Kaitlyn, Ivey, Liz & Kim!

Homecoming Function
Friday night we had our annual Homecoming date function. I borrowed a beautiful Lilly Pulitzer dress from my good friend, Alex, and it looked so pretty. Jake and I had so much fun dancing and posing for pictures:)

Homecoming Parade & Game:
I stressed all week about what jacket to wear for the Homecoming parade and game. I tried a ton of options, but nothing looked right. I'm not one to settle if it isn't exactly what I want, so on Friday around lunch, Jake and I hit King Street (the one place in Boone, besides the outlets, that has decent shopping). The first store I went into was Gladiola Girls and Jake spotted this gold coat with a large collar and beautiful buttons. I tried it on and we decided it was perfect!

Thanks to a coupon I had and some help from my mom's sweet friend, Tammy, I got it for a great price! This paired with the black Vineyard Vines dress I picked out, was just the right combination, especially for the 40 degree temperatures the morning of the parade!

Here's Dylan and I in our mustang for the parade!
On the field!
Oh my gosh! We're on the big screen!
Mama, Daddy, and I showing our Appalachian pride!
Though I didn't win Homecoming Queen, I had SO much fun! Being part of the court was absolutely amazing! It was a great, eventful, exciting, stressful, exhausting weekend.

What were you up to this weekend?

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

A lot of people seemed to be a fan of my post last week about what I was loving on Wednesday, so I thought that I would try my best to keep this up!

1. I'm loving these pink flats at M.C. Adams Clothier in Boone! They were regularly priced $35.00, which isn't bad anyway, but now the pairs they have left are 20% off. I would love to add these to my shoe collection!

So cute!

2. My sweet boyfriend! I felt like I hadn't gotten to spend time with Jake in ages and last night he cooked dinner and invited me over to eat. It was so nice to just relax and be together for a couple hours. He made shrimp scampi, which I'd never had, very tasty! We even made some brownies for dessert. It was such a great night:)

I love this funny picture of us from Jake's formal last year!

3. Big/Little Week! This week has been crazy in Alpha Phi. We have been having Big/Little week for all the new members. Girls have been crafting day and night trying to get everything done and I think it has gone wonderfully. Revealing is tomorrow night and I'm so excited about it. I can't wait to finally hangout with my FOUR new g-littles woohoo!

The Princess Family during philanthropy round

4. Lip Sync Prelims! Lip Sync is a dance competition that Appalachian has every year. During homecoming in the fall, any organization can participate and all the sororities pair up with a fraternity. We have another (much more intense) competition in the spring during greek week, when the fraternities and sororities participate separately. This year we are doing lip sync with FIJI. The pre-lims are tonight and everyone that's not dancing goes to support their organization. Everything has been kept a mystery this year, so I'm really excited to see the theme and choreography!

Two years ago our theme was A-Phi in Wonderland and we won 1st place!
Last fall we had a CSI theme, here I am with my partner!

What are you loving this Wednesday?

Sweet Surprises!

I had such an amazing fall break this past weekend, and the funny part is, most of it was completely a surprise! I'd expected that I'd be laying around a lot, finally eat something besides fast food/take-out, and working some hours at my old high school job, but I hardly expected to have so much fun or be so busy!

I left Boone on Wednesday afternoon around 3:30pm headed for home, and after making a quick stop at my favorite consignment shop, I got there around 6pm.

Beautiful leaves along the way!

During my drive, I realized that I'd gotten an email from Appalachian saying that I had been voted onto Appalachian's Homecoming Court! I knew that I was nominated to be put on the ballot, but had no idea I had any chance of making it on the court. What an honor! The top 8 guys and 8 girls were chosen to be on the court and able to come out on the field during the Homecoming game! I'm so excited to represent Alpha Phi & Appalachian. I could care less if I win, I'm just so honored to be a part of it. When we got nominated they took our picture to put online...

Here's mine!

I finally got home and my mom had hot homemade vegetable soup waiting for me!

Brownies after dinner? Yes, please!

I spent my beautiful Saturday in Chapel Hill. My friend Patrick goes to UNC and he invited me to come up to the football game on Wednesday afternoon, yet another surprise. We had so much fun tailgating and going to the game.
Loved this ice cream with blue and white sprinkles!

After hearing about Homecoming, my mom and I were on a mission to find a black and gold outfit. We searched high and low in 3 different towns and found nothing! Apparently yellow/gold is not a very popular color this season! On Sunday, we headed to our last stop, the Tanger Outlets about an hour from my house. I finally found a black dress that I loved at the Vineyard Vines outlet store! We snatched it right up and for additional 30% off thanks to Tanger's Powerful Pink Card that supports breast cancer research. The dress isn't on their website, but I'm super excited to show you the pictures after Saturday.

We also found a great pearl necklace from the J.Crew Outlet and saved 25% with the Pink Card! I thought this added the classic elegance that I love!

It looks a lot like this one!

This week I have Alpha Phi's annual Homecoming Function on Friday and the Homecoming game on Saturday! Pictures soon! Yay for an amazing fall break:)

Falling into Fall!

After almost a full week off from blogging, I am so anxious to get back into the swing of things. I had so much going on with school and the sorority (big/little bonding was this week), it was demanding all of my time.

I'm sure you can tell from my blog a week or two ago about spring break, that I was a little apprehensive about Fall coming, along with all the cold weather, etc. Well, thanks to Pinterest, I'm finally starting to come around. I just joined Pinterest the other day (a special thanks to my friend, Lizzy who invited me to this ever-so-addicting website). Since I've become a member, I've noticed so many things about fall that I love! Maybe the colder months aren't so bad after all:)

A lot of my friends have been pinning picture of pumpkins and other cute fall things. Aren't these lettered pumpkins too cute?

So classy and fabulous!

The perfect way to bring fall into your home decor!

Looking at all these pretty pumpkins makes me want to go out and by my own! I figure painting a pumpkin can't be too difficult and is the perfect way to show-off my crafty side!

Here's my goal!
I know this pumpkin is a little more simple than the others, but that's exactly what I need for my FIRST PINTEREST PROJECT. I can't wait to let you see how it turns out! Appalachian's fall break is this Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get my crafting gears turning.

What's your latest Pinterest project?

----------------------
Also, I have to say, I am so excited to start Big/Little week next Monday! I'm getting 4 new g-littles! Woohoo! I'm part of the "Princess Family" in Alpha Phi and my littles, Katy & Sharyn, are taking littles this year. They're actually both taking twins!

Here's the Princess Family at revealing last year!
Sharyn, Katy and I at another A-Phi ceremony.
ABSOLUTELY can't wait to get our new princesses!
